St. John’s Church in Ellerslie was the scene of a parish Service of Witness and Holy Communion on May 13 at which recently confirmed parishioners carried the Bicentennial Cross in procession to the hymn "Lift High the Cross". A farewell prayer service was held at the church on May 14 before several members of the Port Hill parish accompanied the cross to Camp Kingston, Crapaud where it was given into the hands of the congregation of St. Paul’s in Charlottetown.

It is interesting to note that the Parish of Port Hill also recognized the 150th anniversary of the consecration of Bishop Charles Inglis in 1937. Special preacher for the event was Rt. Rev. A.E. Burgett, D.D., Lord Bishop of Edmonton, Alberta.
