Looking ahead, 1991 will be a busy and exciting year. It will be our 150th anniversary as a Parish and many activities are planned from April to October. We will look back at how God has blessed us during the past, and pray for God’s 1 guidance as we move ahead. A good quote for each of us to remember as we begin a new year: "The power behind you is greater than the task in front of you." With this knowledge, we can proceed to do God’s will in the years ahead. May God bless each one of you, Barbara Minard, Rector Over the years, the Parish of Port Hill has maintained an admirable reputation. Its dedicated members have given of their time and talents to keep up the work of their forefathers. Rector, Rev. Delmont Yeo, echoed the feelings of many past and present parishioners in his 1966 annual report: This parish, of which we are justly proud and which is so close to the hearts of all of us, has long been a source of inspiration and strength to the area which it serves, and it is our duty and high privilege to preserve and perpetuate the heritage that has come down to us from the past. In the following poem which closes this parish history, the unknown poet expresses his deep love for the Church of England. Like the poet, Port Hill parishioners, past and present, have demonstrated a strong attachment to the Church of which they are so proud. THE GOOD OLD CHURCH OF ENGLAND. What! leave my church of England- My father’s and my own; What! act the viper——sting the breast, Whereon my strength is grown: Oh! bid me leave all else on earth- The near and dear I‘ve known; But not my church of England, My father’s and my own. What! leave my Church of England— My glory and my pride; Abjure the faith that Jesus taught— She holds no faith beside. 103
