All FN The Allen brothers, Bartlett, Joseph and James settled on Boughton Island in the 1820s. Their father, Edward Allen , was probably the Edward who came to Prince Edward Island from London in 1774 on the brig I ovely Kitty and was associated with Robert Clark in his attempt to form a Quaker colony on New London Bay . Their mother, Lydia, was probably a daughter of the Bartlett Coffin mentioned, like Allen, in the day-book of the early Island diarist, Benjamin Chappell . The Coffins were New England whalers who fished Island waters from at least the 1770s. Bartlett (1785-1868) and Josephd 787-1861) married sisters, their cousins, daughters of Benjamin Coffin and Catherine Sanderson of Savage Harbour , and grandaughters of Elisha Coffin , a member of the Island's first House of Assembly which met in 1772. Joseph C . was Bartlett Allen"s third son, the others being Edward (1820-1854) who died without issue and Benjamin (1821-1895) progenitor of the Murray River Aliens.
