HILDA RAMSAY 1963-1965
Mrs. Hilda Ramsay as Provincial President had the honour of
presenting twenty-eight hooked chair seat covers for the dining room chairs at Government House. This project was suggested by Governor
and Mrs. Walter Hyndman during their tenure of office at Government House. Mrs. Wilfred Pickering a member of Clinton Women’s Institute
did the hooking over a period of two years. The design featuring the Crest of the Province with the Motto beneath, was made of Island
yarn. Premier Walter Shaw received this gift on behalf of the Government of Prince Edward Island.
Mrs. Ramsay on behalf of P.E.I. Women’s Institute received a plaque from Unitarian Services by Mrs. Fred Osborne.
Her special project was make P.E.I. Lovelier.
Mrs. Ramsay represented P.E.I. at A.C.W.W. Conference in Dub- lin, Ireland in 1965.
Later Mrs. Ramsay was chosen as the first woman on Prince Ed- ward Island to be a jury foreman.
Six new Institutes were organized during Mrs. Ramsay’s presi- dency.
For the first time minutes of Annual Meeting were printed and given to each delegate instead of reading them at Convention.

Miss Theresa MacLeod resigned as Director in July 1965, and Mrs. Francis (Bertha) Blanchard was appointed Acting Director on a part time basis.
In August, 1965 Prince Edward Island Women’s Institute had as a guest, Miss Lilamini Perera of Ceylon who was on a study tour of Canada. Executive members entertained her during her visit.
In September, 1965, the 11th Triennial Conference of Associated Country Women of the World was held in Dublin, Ireland. Our official representative was Mrs. L.G. Ramsay. Others attending from P.E.I. were Mrs. Frank Ross and Mrs. J .P. Matheson, Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada President.
In the fall five leadership workshops for branch officers were held, at which time a review of Women’s Institute objectives was made. After
