65TH ANNIVERSARY P.E.I. WOMEN’S 65TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY - JUNE 2, 1978 At the close of the 1978 Annual Convention 3 65th Birthday Party was held in the Auditorium at Park Royal United Church. There was an attendance of approximately 390. The Provincial President, Louise MacMillan, presided. The party began by singing the Institute Carol and remarks by the President followed. The F.W.I.C. President, Martha Bielish, brought greetings and congratulations to the P.E.I. Society. Past-President, Mary MacLean, read the names of the Charter Women’s Institutes with special mention of Alpha York, who had organized in 1911 and came under the Depart- ment of Agriculture in 1913. Louise Marchbank read the names of the surviving 16 Charter Mem- bers. Framed Diplomas were given to these ladies, three of whom were present to receive theirs, namely: Mrs. Alonzo Webster, Mrs. Gordon MacMillan and Miss Muriel Haslam.
