(John); Mrs. Louise Chapman (Milton); two of whom are still active, Mrs. MacDonald has been active for 55 years. Thirty-two of them in Mur- ray Harbour and twenty-three years before, a member of High Bank

Women’s Institute, joining the week she returned from her honeymoon.

In the early 70’s the Institute purchased the Murray Harbour school from the government and in turn gave it to the village to be

used for a community center. It has been remodeled and is a very busy place year round. Youth groups meet at the center as well as com-

munity school in the winter. Dances - the meeting place for senior citi- zens also and much more. A very busy place.

Our group has been very active making quilts - floor mats - and layettes for the overseas portion of USC. We’ve helped pack boxes of clothing under the direction of Mrs. Sharam, who won several awards for her ceaseless work for the less fortunate.

We have just been informed that for our outstanding work over the past 10 years we are being awarded a “scroll of honour” from the Unitarian Service Committee. We shall display it with pride.

For many years, we have contributed knitting and sewing to Red Cross.
