One of the major projects of the Triennium 1976-1979 was the construction of live-in quarters for the hostess thereby allowing for the restoration of the kitchen, pantry and upstairs areas of the F.W.I.C. National Museum to its original state. The restored portion now makes room for displays of artifacts previously stored in the basement. Over 200 people attended the opening of the new wing on June 1, 1979. A Hoodless Homestead Foundation Fund was established to mark F.W.I.C.’s 60th Anniversary. Members and friends of the Institute were invited to make personal gifts to make the fund sufficient to maintain the Homestead in a manner befitting a National Museum. PEACE GARDENS F.W.I.C. continues to support a garden area and picnic nook in the International Peace Gardens Situated on the Manitoba-North Dakota border. The Gardens continue to expand both in facilities and programs. Delegates attending the 1970 Convention in Winnipeg had the opportunity of visiting the Peace Gardens as a part of the tour for Manitoba Day. 72
