In 1976 F.W.I.C. made a presentation of two dozen Adelaide Hoodless roses to our sister organizations of America to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States of America.
The F.W.I.C. Peace Garden Convener, Olive Thomsen, resigned as of June 1979 after twenty years of dedicated service.

1935 NINTH BIENNIAL CONVENTION - F.W.I.C.
LOUISE MARCHBANK
The Ninth Biennial Convention of the Federated Women’s Institut- es of Canada was held in the Confederation Room of the Legislative Building Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, June 24th to 28th, 1935 and joint sessions with the Prince Edward Island Women’s Institutes in Convocation Hall in Prince of Wales College.
During the Convention only members of the Executive, Official Representatives, Conveners of Standing Committee and Provincial Superintendents and Directors of Women’s Work attended the sessions.
The President was Mrs. A.E. Walker, Bartonville, Ontario. Mrs. Walter Shaw, Cornwall, P.E.I. was second vice-president.
Official representative for P.E.I. was provincial president Mrs. J .H. MacFarlane, Bedeque. Superintendent and Director of Women’s Work for P.E.I. was Miss Elizabeth MacMillan, Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Miss MacMillan’s report told of the work carried on under her direction. There are 250 Branch Institutes with four thousand mem- bers. She made special reference to the building of the Provincial Sanatorium. The Women’s Institutes, through resolutions and other representations, were largely responsible for the building being completed at this time.
JOINT SESSIONS
The Board of Federated Women's Institutes of Canada met in joint session with the Prince Edward Island Women’s Institutes on Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday afternoon, June 26th and 27th, respectively, with Mrs. Harrison MacFarlane, President of the Prince Edward Island Women’s Institutes presiding at each af- ternoon session.
