The Phillipines L.A.S.I.C. awarded a degree granting scholarship in Nutrition.

A seven day seminar had been held for women leaders from several countries of Europe at An Grinan, Ireland’s Countrywomen’s residential

training centre.

A symposium on Better Living Through Working Together was followed by small intensive discussion groups where members of many countries shared their experiences, information and requests. These groups were very informative, especially when we heard the reports

later on.

During Plenary Sessions the business of the Conference took place. The Lady Aberdeen Scholarship Fund was closed at $72,226 and will be extended in special circumstances to include projects for the education and training of rural women from and in countries where there are no A.C.W.W. member societies. The Pennies for Friendship Fund collection amounted to $24,000 with Mrs. Florence Matheson presenting $1,000 for

F.W.I.C.

Future triennial projects will be UNESCO Gift Coupon #390 which includes a Training Centre for Columbia (submitted by Canada and U.S.A.) and the Help for Learning to Combat Illiteracy (submitted by England and Wales).

Near the end of the conference, the officers of A.C.W.W. gave a most interesting panel report of their different activities during their

three years in office.

Irish hospitality was outstanding. Every delegate had the op— portunity to visit a Guild in the Dublin Area for a supper. We also had a half day outing (which for me went on into the late evening) to visit a local village. We visited An Grinan, the I.C.A. College founded by the I.C.A. with the assistance of the Kellogg Foundation. We enjoyed a theatre party, a fashion show and a state reception. Canadian delegates were entertained at the Embassy by Ambassador and Mrs. Evan Gill.
