How astonished but delighted I was to find our own Premier, Hon. Walter Shaw and Mrs. Shaw, waiting there for us. They too were enjoying their own holiday in the Emerald Isle.
Canada, under the leadership of our F.W.I.C. President, Mrs. Florence Matheson of Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island, had a large delegation of voting members and visitors. Representing the Province of Prince Edward Island were the official delegate, Mrs. Hilda Ramsay, Indian River, and Mrs. Leone Ross who attended as an in- dependent delegate.
TWELFTH TRIENNIAL CONFERENCE OF A.C.W.W. HELD IN EAST LANSING, MICHIGAN, U.S.A. FROM SEPTEMBER 4 to 13, 1968
I think the most moving and overwhelming experience of my term of office as President of Prince Edward Island W.I. was the privilege of attending the A.C.W.W. Conference in Michigan.
To be able to share in the accomplishments, experiences and hardships of almost two thousand women representing thirty-two countries made everyone realize that we truly are “our brother’s keep-

er.
The Theme of the Conference “Learning to Live” made us realize how much more there is to living than existing.
We were welcomed to the State of Michigan by Mrs. Homer A. Greene, President of the Country Women’s Council of the USA. who said that for the first time since 1936 the United States had the honour of hosting the A.C.W.W. Conference.
The Conference was presided over by Mrs. Aroti Dutt, President from India. Her warmth and graciousness will not quickly be forgotten.
The theme of the Conference was covered in Open Forums under four main headings : -
Learning to live in - 1. The Home - the individual, the family. 2. The community. 3. The world. 4. A.C.W.W. and A.C.W.W./United Nations.
Each forum was prepared by a convener who presented as much information as possible but yet allowed enough time for delegates to take part in the discussions. It was in these smaller groups that you could feel closer to the peOple around you because you would be discussing one
anothers personal problems and sometimes without realizing it, solut- ions would be found.
Four very interesting programs on Safety were presented under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Melton McGehee. There were discussions on Farm Safety, Home Safety, Traffic Safety, and Public Safety.
