In short, the conduct of Great Britain in her colo— nial management, from their first settlement to the year 1755, exhibits a lesson of Wisdom to those powers who either possess, or who are disposed to

plant colonies.

But after that period, those who wish for the par- tition of great empires, will learn useful instruction by studying the history of the measures that led to the independence of the United States.
