ANTICOSTI. 211 of living, to all the other tribes. The Greenlanders are said to speak the same language, and to resem¬ ble them in shape and appearance; and in stature they resemble the Laplanders. They may possibly be of Northmen or European origin. All the other Indian tribes despise and hate them. They are thinly scattered along the coast of Labrador , and the arctic shores north-west of Hudson's Bay. The greatest number of them in any one place appears to be at Invutoke Inlet, or , on the coast of Labrador , where there are about two hundred and fifty. The Canadians and others resi¬ ding at Labrador , employ the Esquimaux in catching fish, &c. They have neither the pride nor the spirit of the other savage tribes, but they are equally as cruel.
