Two of the members of the North Tryon Women’s Institute have served on the executive of the Federated Institutes of Prince Edward Island. Adelaide Wood, served as Convenor of Education for a four year term, 1941-1945. She was later given the responsibility of overseas supplies for the soldiers during the second World War. More recently, Hazel Robinson served as provincial Convenor of Agriculture and chairman of the “From Farm to Table” committee from 1989 to 1991. Margaret Scott was Radio Convenor for the Federated Institutes of Prince Edward Island for 1989-90. Her broadcasts were heard several times weekly on both Charlottetown and Summerside radio stations.

The North Tryon Women’s Institute presently has 15 members. The officers are: Hazel Robinson, president; Thelma Inman, vice president; Ethel Thomson, secretary; Elayne Thomson, treasurer; and the follow- ing convenors: Blanche Cairns, Margaret Newsome,Jessie Craig, Glen Thomson, Heather Dixon, and Bea MacFarlane. The Institute now meets once a month on the first Monday of each month. Meetings are sometimes held in the afternoon during the winter months. A guest
