The Grades 9 and 10 students were bussed to the new Englewood High School in Crapaud in 1962. Bus drivers were Eldon Large, followed by Garth Wood, and then Connie Foy.
The school day in the 1950s in the two room North Tryon building began at 9 o’clock with the pledging of allegiance to the Union Jack, the repeating of the Lord’s prayer, and a scripture reading. Morning lessons of Arithmetic and English Literature were separated by a fifteen minute recess. Students went home for dinner at 12 o’clock and school resumed at 1 o’clock. The afternoon lessons were Social Studies, History and Geography; and the languages, English, Latin and French, separated by a ten minute recess. The last class on Friday afternoon was always Junior Red Cross. Visits were made several times a year by the supervisor of schools, who quizzed the students on the work they were doing, and the public health nurse, who inspected the physical condi- tion of the children and gave the necessary inoculations.
The annual School Ice Sports were held on natural ice at the Crapaud rink early each spring for students from all the surrounding
