Appendix E Buildings destroyed by fire Walter Bell 's house burned in the early morning hours of 23 Dec 1989. James and Arthur Dawson's house burned, the result of a grass fire, in the early 1920s. The Charles Ives ' litde house on the hill burned in July 1953. Residents had been: Paul and Russell Mabey; Eldon and Hazel Francis; and Hillus and Blanche Cairns . Ives' Lower Mill or Lord's Mill was lost to fire in May 1952. Frank Kahout 's house, located between the North Tryon Butter Factory and Myron Dawson 's residence, burned in 1958. James F. Lord 's store, house, and coal shed burned on 2 Nov 1931. Harry Malone 's house, to the east of the Pooley house, burned in the late 1930s. James Morrison 's house, across from Simmons' Restaurant, burned in the 1970s. George Muttart 's barn burned in the early morning hours of 21 Nov 1982. William Pooley 's garage burned in the late 1920s and was replaced with a modern filling station. 173
