Jeannie and Ronnie live in Charlottetown where Ronnie, a UPEI graduate, is employed at the University of Prince Edward Island as Games Coordinator for the Sports Department.

It is reputed that the founder of the Island Dawsons was Sir Mar- maduke D’Ossine, a Norman nobleman who, with William the Con- queror, crossed the English Channel from Normandy, and fought against Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. As a reward for his services, he was given an estate in Yorkshire County, England. From England, a branch of the family went to Ireland and became prominent in County Monaghan in the mid 17th century. Through the years the name D’Ossz'ne became anglicised to its present form Dawson. Richard Dawson, who had served in Cromwell’s Army, was granted legal title in 1667 to 31 Townslands in County Monaghan, Ireland, which he named
