They first lived with Wellington's brother, Herb, until they purchased the Michael Delaney house and store. They were members of the Tryon Baptist Church. See Perry history. Marshall and Martha lived in Wellington's home in North Tryon . Marshall was a member of the armed forces during WW II. He was employed at Ives' Mill for 20 years, later working at Cavendish Farms as a commissioner. The 1882 Atlas shows the Thomas house on land owned by James Muirhead . Records show a transfer of land from James Muirhead to Michael Delaney Dec. 2nd, 1873. Michael's son, Claude Delaney , deeded the house and store to Frank Mayhew following Michael's death.
