James Waddell and Elizabeth Craig, with sons, John and Samuel, and daughter, Lettie, immigrated to this country around 1837. They arrived by sailing vessel from County Monaghan, Northern Ireland, at Covehead, PEI, and settled on a wooded homestead in the Lord Melville Estate, then called DeSable, and later named Kelly’s Cross.
James Waddell and Elizabeth Craig had 7 children:

William be. 1824, d. 5Jan 1903, bur. North Tryon Presbyterian Cem., m. Catherine Kate MacKay, Hartsville, be. 1832, d. 19Jan 1903, bur. North Tryon Presbyterian Cem., they had 1 child: Lizzie, d. Boston 9June 1903, age 46. They lived and farmed in Kelly’s Cross. Their farm was sold to Charles Monahan.
