William, son of Joseph Wood and Isabella Leard, m. 6 Feb 1823 Charlotte Gouldrup, d. 7 Aug 1841, daughter of John Gouldrup and
widow Judith Partridge Farrar/ Farrow.
William and Charlotte lived and farmed land now owned by Richard Newsome. William was also a blacksmith. Charlotte’s family lived in Tryon, and operated the Gouldrup Saw and Grist Mills in North Tryon, later known as Ives’ Lower Mill. Their oldest son Joseph lived in the homestead and following his early death, his sister, Harriet, inherited the farm and she and her husband, Stephen Leard, moved into the
homestead.

John b. 1826, son of William Wood and Charlotte Gouldrup. There is no record ofJohn’s death or burial. He did not marry and lived with his sister, Eliza. They raised Caroline, daughter of their uncleJohn and Sarah Wadman. Carrie died at Ham Leard’s. According to the Brent Wood History: John and Eliza were a fine old couple.
John’s will was registered 28 May 1901, and in it, he dispensed of his worldly possessions as follows:
To my niece, Caroline Stordy Wood, in lieu of wages, $ 700. 00 and furniture, the balance of my estate to my two brothers, Lewis Baker and james Benjamin, and my nephew, Nathan, to share and share alike.
