It shall be the duty of the Engineers to visit every house in their respective wards at 3,23,31,93; least once in each year, for the purpose of home" inspecting the ladders, buckets, chimneys, ovens, furnaces, stoves and pipes, gunpowder, kerosene or other burning fluids. And at any time, when any of the said Engineers shall think fit, or shall receive information of any infraction of the pro- visions of this By-law, he shall have full power to enter into and inspect any building or prem— ises. Any Engineer neglecting this duty shall be liable to the penalties of this By-law. ‘ Any person refusing to admit such Engineer, or giving a false statement in respect to any dan— gerous chimney. or as to the possession of any explosive material, so as to mislead such Engi- neer in the discharge Of his duties, under this By —law shall be liable. on conviction to the penalties of this By- law. ‘ 8.
