the Board of Engineers of the City of Char- lottetown, do hereby signify our agreement to abide by and perform to the best of our ability, the rules and regulations of the said Board relating to our duties as officers and members of said Company.

[0. It shall be the duty of the captain or commanding officer of each company to see that the engine. or other property committed to his care, and the buildings in which the same are deposited, are kept neat and clean and fit for immediate use ; to preserve order and discipline at all times when on duty ; to enforce a strict compliance with the rules and regulations of the Board, as well aswith the By-laws ofhis company; to be prompt in attendance with his company and apparatus at fires; to obey, and cause to be obeyed, all orders relating to his command, as given by the Chief or Engineer in charge, and not to retire or permit his company to retire from any fire before permission is given by the Chief or Engineer in charge. All vacancies in each company shall be filled up by the choice of the major part of the company, subject to the ap- proval of the Board. Each company shall wear such caps or badges only as the Board shall approve. All By-laws adopted by a two-third vote of each company to be in force when sanctioned by the Board.

II. Each house shall have at least two good ladders, forming a complete connection between the ground and the ridge of the roof. Any occupant ofa house omitting to have the ladders, or failing to have them in good repair, shall on conviction, be liable to the penalties of this
