CAP. IX.

A By-law relating to Drunkenness.

B it enacted by the City Council of the City of Charlottetown, as follows :'—

I. No person shall be drunk or disorderly -. . . . . . Drunk or dis- m any street or public place Within the said gum-1y per- city; and any person who shall be drunk or “8 disorderly in any street or public place in said city shall be liable to the penalties of this By—law.

2. The Police Constables shall take in Tob mm charge all persons found drunk or disorderly in in chime any street or public place in said city,‘ and commit such persons to the Lock-up of said

city.

3. In case of any person having been convicted of any of the above offences tendering fibers tiible’fiu payment of the fine and costs which have been awarded, it shall not be imperative on the Stipendiary Magistrate to receive such fine and costs, in case the said offender shall be so intoxicated as not to be suffered safely to go at large, but the said offender may still be detained in custody until he becomes sober, when he may be discharged on payment of such fine and costs; or on payment ofsuch fine and costs he may be given into the custody of his friends, at the discretion of the Stipe‘ndiary Magistrate.
