CAP. XII.
A By-law respecting Theatres and Public Shows.
BE it enacted by the City Council of the City of Charlottetown as follows :—
1. That no theatrical exhibitions, public shows or other exhibitions of whatever name or
"nature to which admission is obtained on
payment of money, shall be allowed within the city, unless by permission and license of the Mayor of the City for the time being, or in his absence, the presiding Councilman. first had and obtained.
2. The fee or sum to be paid for a license f1om said Mayor or in his absence, the presiding Councilman, for every theatrical or public show, or exhibition, shall be a sum of not less than Two Dollars and not more than Fifty Dollars, the precise amount to be fixed by the Mayor or said presiding Councilman.
3. Every Such license shall express the number of days it is to continue in force, and an additional sum, not exceeding fifteen dollars, may be demanded for each day beyond the first ; provided nevertheless that it shall be lawful for the City Council upon the application of the owners or managers of any Opera House, Music Hall, or other Public Hall of any kind, to grant a yearly license for such sum as may be deter— mined upon by said Council.
