[65] CA P. XV. A By—law for Sanitary Purposes. E. it enactediby the City Council of the City of Charlottetown, as follows :— I. The City Council shall compose the Board of Health for the said city, who as such Board of Board of Health, shall have full power and Health authority to preserve the health of said city, and prevent the spread of infectious or other diseases. 2. It shall be lawful for the said Board of Health, when it is deemed indispensible for the He am public health and the more properly carrying Officers into effect the sanitary conditions of this By- law, to appoint one or more members of the medical profession, to be medical health officer or officers, to hold office during the pleasure of the Board and whose duties and remuneration shall be specially defined, from time to time, by resolution of the said Board. 3. The said Board shall examine into all nuisances, sources of filth, and causes of sickness Dun,S of within the said city, that may in its opinion, be 3”” injurious to the health of the inhabitants, and shall destroy, remove or prevent the same, as the case may‘require ; and shall further inquire respecting articles that are capable of containing or conveying infection or contagion brought or carried into the city by any means whatsoever. 4. The said Board may grant permits for, or restrain the removal of any nuisance or infected Permitsfor removal of articles within the said city, when they consider Nuisances it proper and safe for the public safety so to do.
