Removal of snow Ice [84] CAP. XIX. A By-law to regulate and compel the removal of Snow and Ice from off the Sidewalks. BE it enacted by the City Council of the City of Charlottetown, as follows: — 1. Every tenant or occupant of any building or lot of land,~—and in the case there is no occupant, or tenant,—then the owner or the agent of the owner, or any person having the care of any such building or lot of land border- ing on any street, lane. square, or public wharf within the City of Charlottetown and Common thereof. where there is any footway or sidewalk, shall, after the ceasing to fall of any snow —if in the day— —time, four hours after; and if in the night before ten oclock of the forenoon suc- ceeding; cause such snow to be removed from such footway or sidewalk, so far as such building or lot of land extends along such street, lane, square or public wharf, under a penalty of two dollars for every neglect, and the further sum of one dollar each day for every day such snow shall not be removed. The provisions of this section shall also apply to the falling of snow from any building. 2. Whenever the footway or sidewalk, or my part thereof adjoining any building’ or lot of land along any street, lane or square, shall be encumbered with ice, it shall be the duty of the tenant or occupant—and in case there be no tenant or occupant—then the owner or person having the care of such building or lot of land
