tenants or occupants, in amount of rent, according to the provisions of this Act to qualify such person as an elector shall be entitled to vote in respect of such share as if it were held in such person’s individual name, and not jointly with one or more.
27 Persons entitled to vote at the election of a Mayor and Councillors, as aforesaid, shall, when 'en- titled to vote under the first and second above named qualification vote in the ward in which such qualifi’ cation is, and may vote in any and every ward in which they shall be so qualified, and being other- wise qualified, shall vote in and for the ward in which they live.
28. Every person desirous of voting at any Election of a Mayor or Councillors, shall, before he be permitted to vote, if required by the candidate or his representative, make oath to the particulars of his qualification, and that he had not before voted at- such Election in manner herein provided ; which oath the officer or person holding such Election is hereby authorized and required to administer, and which oath shall be in the form following, that is to say :—
“I, A. 3., do solemnly swear that I am a British subject and of full age, and have paid all rates and assessments due by me, and that I am qualified by law to vote in this ward at this Election, and have not voted before at this Election within this ward, and have voted at no other ward at this Election except where I was duly qualified and my qualifica~ tion is as follows :_
“So help me God.”
And in every case the Returning Officer shall note in the poll book that the voter was sworn, and which of the said qualifications he swore to ; the can— didate or his agent shall also, if he deem it necessary,-
