Hospital (while used as a Hospital) but only the building actually used as a Hospital; the Charlotte town Hospital (while used as a Hospital) but only the building actually used as a Hospital; and also all property vested in the Crown; and also all build- ings used as permanent educational establishments, and the lands and premises immediately connected therewith, shall be exempt from any taxation under the authority of this Act.

81. It shall also be lawful for the City Coun- cil to grant exemptions from taxation to any new hotel to be built in the city, and to new industries coming into the city and not in existence at the time an application for exemption is made, for such a period and upon such terms and conditions as the said Council shall determine upon. Provided always, that such applicants for exemptionsdo advertise, if for a new hotel, the fact that application is made for exemption thereof; or if for a new industry, the par-

ticular nature of the industry proposed to be intro- -

duced, so that any protest may be entered With the City Clerk against granting the same by parties opposing or already manufacturing or producing similar articles in Charlottetown, and such advertise- ments shall be published once in each week for four weeks consecutively in two at least of the news— papers published in Charlottetown.

82. No application for such exemption shall be considered by the said Council unless such advertise— ments have been published as aforesaid.

83 The said Council shall have power and authority by by-law to regulate the mode of apply- ing for, and granting such exemptions and the condi- tions, restrictions and terms upon which the same shall be granted. Provided always that no new hotel, shall be exempted from taxation for a longer period
