The granite rock pictured above can be found along the edge of a l7 7—1 field north of Ellis Avenue on property owned long ago by Robert PC "Little Bob” Ellis, and now belonging to Allan MacMillan. O’Leary’s (964. original race track had been situated nearby. , O :5

This rock is unique in that it has initials carved into its surface T57 which are dated November 11, 1896. Although these markings were ’ '1 made almost one hundred years ago, they are still visible in the rock. ‘ 39 - Some of these initials may have been those of Bennett Haywood,

Peter Pate, Robert Carruthers, Clifford Ellis, Bayfield Ellis, and Robert Ellis.
