WEST PRINCE REGIONAL SERVICES CENTRE
In 1972, Premier Alex Campbell opened the first decentralized service delivery system on P.E.I. named the West Prince Reg’onal Services Centre. The centre has been a great convenience for thepeo— ple of West Prince, where citizens can receive a variety of galem- merit services in a “one step shopping” concept. Before this tine, a multitude of government offices were scattered all over Charlottetown. It was almost impossible for ordinary citizens tc find these various offices or to unravel the red tape necessary to (main desired services from the various departments.
A prefabricated unit hauled from Montague and located in Centennial Park served as the first services centre. In 1978, 'r was decided that a modern office building was needed.
