Recreation is still a business in Bonshaw today. The Bonshaw 500 (the first go-cart track in the Atlantic Provinces) was built by David Sharpley in 1972. In 1985 Lorne Arsenault purchased the facility and added the miniature golf course and bumper boats (30).

The Car Life Museum (a collection of older automobiles) was built by Newton McKay in the fall of 1965 and opened in July 1966. It is being run today by Kevin McKay, Newton's son (28).

COMMUNICATION

By 1888 Bonshaw had been connected to the outside world by the latest in communication devices, the telegraph. In July of that year a line was run from Robertson's store to the Robertson's house "Bonshaw House" (1).

In May 1892 Mr. Angus of the Telephone Company was noted as coming to Bonshaw to determine where to place the telephone. It seems that Bonshaw was to get one telephone! The new

device was not without risk as in September 1900 Robertson's Store, in which it was installed, was hit by lightning through the wires (29).
