Cyrus Crosby and other residents were noted in March 1887 as having formed a "Mutual Improvement Society" to raise money for a concert hall. A concert was held in February 1888 and $18 was raised for the concert hall fund. A lecture by R.B. Stewart entitled "A Trip from Bonshaw to Vancouver" in Dec 1893 netted $63.
