1 Lyndale; settlement, lot 59. Earlier known as Orwell Rear. “About the year 1880 the young people of the district feeling that the name hinted some disparagement called a public meeting to fix upon a more euphonious name. On the appointed evening the little school was crowded to take part in the everlasting decision. Three names were sponsored and fought for, Woodville, Valtos and Lyndale. This last is the name of a pretty little vale in Skye, Scotland, and was submitted by Ewen Lamont, a Skyeman, in remembrance of his childhood. It captured the almost unanimous vote of the meeting because it ‘sounded pretty’.” (Rev. D. M. Lamont, Charlottetown, son of Ewen Lamont.)

Mabey; creek, lot 31. Paul Mabey, member of the House of Assembly for Charlottetown, 1820, owned the property at the creek and lived here for some years. Named after him.

McAskill; river, lot 42. Lake, 1863.

; Machon; point, lot 64. Daniel Machon', from Guernsey, settled on the point in 1806. Chart, 1. 184131, has Merchant point. Plan, 1829, has Guernsey. Meacham, 1880, has Guernsee or achom.

Macdonal'd; creek, lot 14. Chart, 1850. Cross river in Meacham, 1880. Un-named on Wright and Cundall, 1874.

"r | cDonald; point, Dunk river, lot 25. Chart, 1849. After Alex. McDonald, whose father, Capt. Allan McDonald, in 1774 purchased 10,000 acres in lot 25 from Sir Alex. Campbell, intending to leave Scotland and settle here, but was drowned while crossmg from Skye to the mainland. His son Alexander came over, but disposed of most of his property. William Schurman, loyalist, after whom Schurman point is named, bought 3,500 acres, John Campbell, Island treasurer, bought 500 and McDonald gave 1,000 acres each to an uncle and two aunts who came from Scotland with him. In 1798 Angus McDonald and Ronald McDonald were heads of families resident in lot 25.
