recommend more heartly to parents for their daughters than the Convent de N. 1)., Charlottetown. It is now entering upon its 3lst year of unobtrusive labor. That it may long continue the noble Work of Christian Education, is undoubtedly the prayer of its numerous offspring scattered throughout the length and breadth of the Maritime Provinces.
ST. DUNSTAN’S COLLEGE.
St. Dunstan’s College (founded in 1855), is situated in Charlottetown Royalty, about a mile and a quarter from the City. Thus, whilst it enjoys the conveniences of the city, it possesses also the advantages of the country. The extensive orchards, velvety, lawns; well-trimmed hedges, widespreadiug firs and chestnuts and limetrees, that adorn the ,College grounds, form a scene of rural beauty rarely to be found. The View from the college is simply charming : the silvery waters of the North, East and West rivers, winding through shady grove and verdant meadow, the dim outline of Nova Scotia rising from the Strait of North— umberland and miles of richly cultivated fields on all sides.
Persons intending to enter on any of the learned pro- fessions may receive at St. Dunstan’s a thorough classical education.
The commercial course, conducted on the most modern principles, is equal to any in the Maritime Provinces. Persons, too, who desire to qualify as teachers, are carefully instructel. Besides the intellectual and moral training imparted at St. Dunstan’s the physical training of the pupils is not neglected. Spacious grounds surround the college for all kinds of games and sports. It has been the aim of the directors to make this a modern institution; consequently, the students have a. brass band, a college journal, 3. foot—ball team, a glee-club and, we understand, a reading-room is to be fitted up for the incoming year.
