Bothwell: 9 mi E of Souris, Lot 47. Named by Joseph McVean for P0 from situation of “both” himself and his father living “well” side by side. On Lake 1863. PO 1864- 1913. There is a Bothwell Castle east of Glasgow, Scotland.

Boughton Island: PO 1903-1946 on Bough- ton Island, Lot 55.
Boughton River: Flows SE into Boughton Bay. Named by Samuel Holland 1765. Commonly called Grand River, which is on Holland 1781. In Micmae Wei/300k— toojech, “little red river” (Rand), or “little grassy woods” (Pacifique 1934).

Bouquet Point: Extends into Northumberland Strait, Lot 26. Named by Holland 1765 Boquet Point for Henry Bouquet (1719- 1765) who served notably in the British Army in North America from 1756 until his death. Douglas 1925 quotes Lewis Butler: “The almost startling question forces itself upon us, had Bouquet lived, should we have lost America?” Bouquet Cove, also named by Holland, is adjacent to the point.
Bovyer Creek: Flows N into Fullerton Creek and Hillsborough River. Named for Bovyer, settler there before 1798. Probably his father was Stephen Bovyer, Loyalist who may have settled at Covehead in Lot 34.

Bowley Pond: Former pond in Lot 40 now sand filled. In error the name was applied on NTS 11 L/7 to the next pond east which is Bog Pond. There was once a large Bowley estate in Lot 40.

Brackley: 5 mi N of Charlottetown in Lot 33. PO Brackley Point Road 1868-1912; PO Thorndyk81896-1912.
Brackley Bay: Adjacent to Lot 33. Named for a Mr. Brackley, who was the Clerk of the Legislative Council from 1772 to 1776. He had come to PEI in 1770 with Governor Patterson. He was drowned in 1776, pos— sibly in this bay. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Peters/1am Cove for William Stan- hope (1719-1779) Viscount Petersham.
Brackley Beach: 13 mi NW of Charlottetown in Lot 33. PO 1889-1967.
Brackley Point: 1 1 mi NW of Charlottetown. PO 1852—1917. The point, named on NTS 11 L/6 at the E end of Rustico Bay, is identified as Breckly Point on McGregor 1832.
Bradford: PO 1898-1912 in Cape Traverse, Lot 28. Douglas 1925 calls it a settlement, but it is not regarded as one locally. Named for Bradford, Yorkshire, England. Former- ly called Big Clear for a large clearing left after a fire in early 18005. The name Brad- ford Road remains.
