Burial Point: Former name for a point in Princetown Royalty at Baltic River. It was a site of an Indian burial ground. In Meacham 1880.

Burlington: 4 mi NE of Kensington in Lot 18. Named at a public meeting April 26, 1867. PO 1867-1912. Formerly called Morrisons

Burnt Point: Extends into Malpeque Bay at Belmont Lot 16. Lake 1863 Bruly Point; Bayfield 1850, Meacham 1880, Douglas 1925 and NTS ll L/5 1967 Shemody Point. In Micmac S/iemody means “spear pole”.

Burnt Point: Extends into Cardigan Bay, 1‘/2 mi E of Georgetown. Noted in JHA 1867 and Meacham 1880. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Cardigan Point for George Brudenell (1712-1790) 4th Earl of Car- digan. Plan 1745 Pte au buse and C. Vivien.

Burrell Cross: In Douglas 1925 for a settle- ment in Lot 19. Possibly a misspelling of B arretts Cross.
Burton: 7 mi NW of O’Leary in Lot 7. Named by T. Wright 1886 because the use of Mount Pleasant for the PO would have caused misdirection of mail. Possibly chosen because it was at the north end of Haliburton Road. PO 1886—1913. Mount
Pleasant established as a school district c1865.
Bury Head: Extends into Cascumpec Bay at Alberton South. Probably site of an early burial ground. Plan 1770 Barry Head; Bayfield 1845. Douglas 1925 and early NTS maps had Berry Head, probably due to common pronunciation of “bury”. Meacham 1880 has Hill Point (p. 40) and Cascumpeque Point (p. 148). Bayfield 1845 also has Hill Point. Byrnes Creek: Flows S into Cardigan River, Lot 53. Cummins 1925 notes Walter P. Byrne at a site where Meaeham 1880 shows a grist mill. Also known as Burnt Bridge Creek.
Byrnes Road: 6 mi SW of Morell in Lot 39. Named for Walter Byrne, the first settler there. PO 1880-1919. School district Byrne Road c1878. Meacham 1880 shows Peter and Lawrence Byrne as local residents.
