Cable Head: Extends into Gulf of St. Law- rence, 4 mi NW of St. Peters, Lot 41. Said to be named for a piece of hemp cable found on the shore, evidently from a vessel. The first settlers called the place Ceann Cable (“cable end” or “cable head”).

Cabot Park: Provincial park in Princetown Royalty. Named for John and Sebastian Cabot who explored the coastal area of the Atlantic Provinces in 1497, although it is not believed that they sighted PEI.

Caitlmess Cove: Former name for a cove on
N side of West River, 1/2 mi W of North Point, Lot 32. Given by the .Bain family from Caithness, Scotland.
Calbeck Creek: On Wright and Derbage 1793 for the creek at Augustine Cove, Lot 28. Named for Phillips Callbeck, who owned about half of the lot.
Caledonia: 6 mi NW of Murray River in Lots 60, 61 and 63. Selected at a public meeting February 14, 1868 to replace Sconser and County Line. Derived from the poetic name for Scotland. PO 1869-1930.

Callaghans Pond: On East Branch Clarks Creek, Lot 37. Meacham 1880 shows a pond there on the property of Jno. Cal- laghan, and Cummins 1925 names Peter Callaghan there.
Cambridge: 6 mi NE of Murray River in Lot 63. Named for John Cambridge who lived in Bristol, England, and was proprietor of Lots 63 and 64 01800. Lemuel Cambridge, had a fishing establishment at Beach Point. PO Mink River Road 1885-1891; PC Cambridge Road 1891-1914.

Cameron Island: N side of Point Prim, Lot 57. Holland 1765 Prim I. Meacham 1880 Prim Island, with Ewen Cameron as owner of it. In Micmac Mimegooskek, “little island” (Rand), or Menigoatgeg, “penin- sula” (Pacifique 1934).

Campbell Creek: Flows N into Bideford River, Lot 13. Census 1798 has Dugald Campbell the head of a family there and Plan 1808 shows James Campbell there. In Meacham 1880. Bayfield 1850 P. Hill; Cummins 1925 Yeo Creek; the Port Hill Farm of Hon. James Yeo was there.
