Clennont: 2 mi W of Kensington in Lot 19. School district 1878. Formerly called Bar- bara Weir. PO 1877-1913. There is a Clermont Park in Louth, Ireland where Samuel Chichester, Baron Clermont(1823- 1892) was born. Perhaps the adjacent name Chiehcster Cove suggested Clermont.

England. Also known as Clifton Corner. Lake 1863 Graham Corner.

Clyde: Station 2 mi W of Hunter River in Lot 22. Situated at the head of Hunter River, formerly known as Clyde River. PO Clyde Station 1877-1914.

Clyde River: 6 mi W of Charlottetown in Lot 31. School district c1864. PO 1886-1969. Formerly called Dog River Settlement.

Clyde River: Flows S into West River, Lot 31. Named for Clyde River in Scotland. Formerly known as Dock River corrupted into Dog River. Changed c1864. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Edward River, for Edward Eliot (1727—1804) lst Baron Eliot. In Micmac Oonigunsuk, “portage place”.

Cody Point: Extends into Northumberland Strait in Gaspereaux, Lot 63. Origin un- known, although Douglas 1925 notes the similar name “Cuddy” in Lot 64. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Desbares Point, for Joseph Frederick Wallet DesBarres (1722-1824) who surveyed the coast of Nova Scotia 1763-1773 and became Gov- ernor of Cape Breton in 1784 and Lieute— nant Governor of PEI in 1804. Recent maps and charts have DesBarres Point with Cody Point 2 mi S at Irvings Cape. Meacham 1880 has Cody Point correctly shown. Dept. of Interior 1910 and Cum- mins 1925 Reid Point, but Harry Reid who lives near there knows it as Cody Point.

Coleman: 3 mi SE of O’Leary in Lot 9. Named for James Coleman, Superintendent of PEI Railway. Station first called Brae, Coleman being used c1888. PO Brae Sta- tion 1878—1887; PO Coleman from 1887.

Coles Creek: Flows SW into North River, Lot 32. John Coles and John Coles Jr. were millers there 1889. Meacham 1880 and Douglas 1925 Curtis Creek.

Collingwoods Creek: Flows N into Trout River, Lot 13. Named for Collingwood Yeo, whom Cummins 1925 shows living

there. He was a grandson of James Yeo (1788-1868).

Colville: CN station on Colville Road, Lot 31. The road extends from New Haven to Brookfield. Meacham 1880 shows Rich. Walter Colwill and Chas. Colwill on it. Cummins 1925 identifies John and Will. Colville on it.

Colville Bay: Adjacent to Northumberland Strait at Souris. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for Alexander, 7th Lord Colville of Culross (1717—1770) who was in command of naval forces from Quebec to the Baha- mas in '1763. Bellin 1764 and Pichon 1760
