Ebbsfleet: PO 1894-1967 in Miminegash. Douglas 1925 suggests it is named for Ebbsfleet, Kent, England. Locally it has been suggested that the large fishing fleet and the fast ebb tides suggested the name.

Ebenezer: 5 mi E of Hunter Riyer in Lot 24. School district 1855. PO 1889-1912. Douglas 1925 writes “doubtless biblical”, but offers no evidence. Formerly called New Glasgow Road. A local resident in 1924 suggested it was from I Samuel 12, and that it meant “stone of help”.

Eglington: 6 mi SW of Souris in Lot 43. School district 1859.

Eglington Cove: Adjacent to Northumberland Strait, 1 mi S of Bay Fortune, Lot 43. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Eglington Cove for Alexander Montgomery (1723- 1769) 10th Earl of Eglinton. Wright and Cund8111874 and Meacham 1880 Eglinton Cove. Douglas 1925 Eglinton Cove.

Egmont Bay: 11 mi SW of Tyne Valley in Lot 15. PO 1 839-1917. Lake 1863 and Douglas 1925 have St. James; the Catholic church there is called Saint-Jacques. In Micmac possibly Sipagamigeg, “French fort” (Paci- fique 1934).

Egmont Bay: Adjacent to Northumberland Strait. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for John Perceval (c1710-1770) 2nd Earl of Egmont. Holland also shows on his map the French name baye de la Grande Anee.

Eldon: 13 mi SW of Montague in Belfast. Lot 57. Possibly named for John Scott (1751— 1838) lst Earl of Eldon, Lord‘Chancellor of England. Noted in JHA 1865. Formerly called Belfast Cross and Belfast Cross Roads.
