Ellerslie: 2 mi N of Tyne Valley in Lot 12. Derived from the name of the farm of a man called Wallace, which he named for one of the manors of Sir William Wallace, the Scottish hero. Noted in the Palladium of Charlottetown, 1845. PO Lot 12 1855- 1912; PO Ellerslie Station 1912—1924; PO Ellerslie from 1924. Ellerslie Brook flows NE into Smelt Creek.

Elliotts: 6 mi W of Hunter River in Lot 21. Named for Richard Elliot who had a saw—

mill there in 1864 and who was postmaster for 35 years. PO Elliotts Mills 1875—1914.

Elliotvale: 8 mi W of Cardigan in Lot 66. School district c1872, although not in Meacham 1880, which shows Brothers Road. PO Elliot Vale 1882-1913.

Ellis Cove: Adjacent to Bideford River, Lot 12. William Ellis, a shipwright, settled in Lot 13 in 1818. Meacham 1880 has Archd. and E. Ellis beside it, and Cummins 1925 shows Russell Ellis there.

Ellis Island: In Winter River, Lot 35. Cum- mins 1925 lists C. C. Ellis in possession of the island.

Ellis River: PO 1896-1913, 9 mi NW of Sum- merside on S side of Grand River, Lot 16.

Elmira: 1 1 mi NE of Souris in Lot 47. Named by George B. McEachern in 1872 for Elmira, New York. It was selected for its euphony. Formerly called Portage because it was on the route from North Lake to South Lake. PO from 1844. Almira Road noted in Meacham 1880.

Elm Point: Extends into Egmont Bay, 2 mi N of Higgins Road, Lot 15. In Meacham 1880 and Douglas 1925, but not on NTS 21 1/9 1967 although known locally.

Elmsdale: 4 mi W of Alberton in Lot 4. Given c1875 because a small valley there was

studded with elm trees. PO from 1877. Possibly called New Lang/101m in 1863; formerly known as Adams Corner for John Adams, the first settler.

Elmwood: 9 mi W of Charlottetown in Lot 31. School district 1893. PO 1895—1913.

Emerald Junction: 7 mi SE of Kensington in Lots 26 and 67. Named for Ireland. PO County Line 1875-1887, because it was on the Queens—Prince line; PO Emerald 1887— 1970.

Emyvale: 7 mi NE of Crapaud in Lots 30 and 65. Named by either Michael McArdle or Patrick Dougherty for Emyvale, Mona- ghan, Ireland. Noted in JHA 1850. PO 1873-1915.

Englands Point: Extends into Bideford River, Lot 12. John England settled there in 1818. Meacham 1880 shows John England near— by, and Cummins 1925 shows Fred C. England with 153 acres, includingthe point.

Enman Shore: Adjacent to Egmont Bay, Lot 10. Named for Walter Enman, whom Cum- mins 1925 shows there with 102 acres.

Enmore: 5 mi W of Tyne Valley in Lot 10. PO cl 895-191 3.

Enmore Head: Named by Holland 1765 for Rocky Point, Lot 15. Both are in Meacham 1880.

Enmore River: Flows S into Egmont Bay, Lot 10. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for John Perceval (c1710-1770) 2nd Earl of Egmont and Baron Lovel and Holland of Enmore; not for local residents with

the names Enman and Moore. Meacham 1880 names its head Mill River Creek.
