Finlaysons Point: Extends into Murray River opposite Gladstone. Douglas 1925 notes it was named Bottle Point in 1913 but gives no reason. Cummins 1925 shows James Finlayson with 350 acres there.

Finlaysons Pond: On Greek River, Lot 63. Cummins 1925 shows James Finlayson there, and Meacham 1880 notes saw and grist mills. Also known as Leccos Pond for John Lecco.

Finleys Point: Extends into Vernon River, Lot 50. In Meacham 1880 with Pat. Finley with 56 acres there. Cummins 1925 shows Jos. Finley there. Also known as Frasers Point, with Meacham having E. Fraser there, and Cummins with Allan Fraser. Bayfield 1846 and NTS 11 L/2 1967 Centia Point, which formerly identified the next point S, which is Davies Point.

Fish Island: Between Malpeque Bay and Gulf of St. Lawrence. Said to have been named for its shape (Greenhill 1967). Noted as Fish Island as early as 1821 and in Meacham 1880. Map 1758 I. de Tentrec; Holland 1765, Billhook Sand, and notes “The Fishery” on it; Bayfield 1850 and Douglas 1925 have Billhook Island. In Micmac Min'ztoogopskeecli, “ball island”.

Fitzpatricks Pond: On Seal River, Lot 54. For John Fitzpatrick who took over the Woodville Mills in 1922, and whose son Lewis still has a mill there.

Fitzroy Rock: In Hillsborough Bay, 2 mi SW of Governors Island. On Wright and Pea- cock 1839. Named for Charles Augustus

Fitzsimmons Point: Extends into Southwest River, Lot 20. Named for Robert Fitzsim— mons who started farming there in 1861.

Five Houses: 3 mi E of St. Peters in Lot 42. Probably named for five French dwellings that had been destroyed. Holland 1765 notes “Ruined Village” there on his map and “Ruined Village of 5 Houses” in his map notes. JHA 1840 notes “the ruined village of Five-houses”. Meacham 1880

indicates Bay Fortune Road school district there. P0 in 1913.

Fodhla: Station in Iona, 9 mi SW of Monta- gue. Named by Father Phelan c1907 for a poetic name for Ireland.

Foleys Pond: Adjacent to Gulf of St. Law- rence, Lots 3 and 4. Meacham 1880 Kildare Cr. and Kil. Pond, with Mich., Jno., Geo, and Patrick Foley beside it. Bayfield 1845 erroneously placed Kildare Creek here, which Holland 1765 had given to

Kildare River. Also known as Conroys Pond.
