Gordons Pond: On Huntley River, Lot 4. Meacham 1880 shows Jno Gordon with a grist mill there.

Gowanbrae: 3 mi NW of Souris in Lot 44. Probably named for John Macgowan, early sheriff of Kings County and mill operator on Souris River. Douglas 1925 suggests for “mountain daisy” and “hill” in Scottish. School district 1865 Gowan Brae. PO Gowan Brae c1886-1913. Meacham 1880 shows McGowans Road between Rollo Bay and Gowan Brae.

Graham Head: Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for N part of Seacow Head, Lot 26, possibly for Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Graham, who served in North America, or for George Graham, the maker of the
monthly astronomical clock used by Holland.
Graham Pond: In Gaspereaux, Lot 63. Cen— sus of 1798 lists Wm. Graham in Lot 63. Meacham 1880 Herring Pond with Wm., Wm. W., Jno., Geo., and Thos. Graham as

local residents. Graham Point is also on NTS 11 L/I 1966, but being unknown, has been rescinded.
Graham Rogers Lake: On North River above the North River Causeway. Named for
Graham Rogers, former provincial geol- ogist and member of the CPCGN.

Grahams Road: 5 mi E of Kensington in Lot 20. Named for William Graham who lived at the Clifton end of the road. In JHA 1832. PO 1859-1913.
Grande Digue Point: Extends into Egmont Bay at Percival Bay. Derived from French “great dike”, possibly a description of the sandbar there. Holland 1765 Percival Point; JHA 1838 Grand Dyke; Wright 1852, Meacham 1880 and Douglas 1925 Baptiste Point. Meacham also applies Grand Digue (p. 24) and Grand Dique (p. 45) to the cove behind the point. Grande Digue Shore is adjacent to the point.

Grand River: Flows NE into Malpeque Bay. Possibly derived from the French, and earlier from Micmac Amasiboogwek, “long river”. Noted in JHA 1831. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Ellis River for Wel- bore Ellis (1713-1802), brother-in-law of Sir Hans Stanley.
