Named for the residence of James Yeo, a sketch of which is in Meacham 1880, p. 146.

Green Road: 6 mi SE of Crapaud in Lot 30. Possibly named for a family settled at Greens Brook. Meacham 1880 has both Green Road and Greens Brook, but shows no one by that name there.

Greens Brook: Flows SW into DeSable River, Lot 29. Possibly named for a family. In Meacham 1880, but no one by the name of Green is shown there.

Greens Shore B edeque: See Summerside.

Greenvale: 2 mi SE of Hunter River in Lot 23. School district 1862. Meacham 1880 Greenville, which was an error. This was followed by Douglas 1925, although he noted the correct school district name.

Greenvale: 4 mi NE of Souris in Lot 46.

Named by Daniel Mooney 1842, who had immigrated from County Antrim, Ireland, 1821. PO 1894—1914.

Greenwich: 3 mi NW of St. Peters in Lots 40 and 41. Named for Greenwich, London, England. On Map 1794. Locally pro- nounced “gren—ich”; others in the Mari- times are pronounced “green-wich” (New

Brunswick) and “gree-nich” (Nova Scotia). PO 1882-1913.

Greenwich: School district 1864 at Spring- brook in New London, Lot 21. Probably named for Greenwich, London, England.

Grenville Paris/1: Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for Lots 20, 21, 22, 23 and 67. Rare- ly used and now never referred to.

Gretna Green: Former name for E part of Springfield, Lot 67, 8 mi NW of Hunter River. Possibly named by John Currie c1832 from Gretna Green, Dumfries, Scotland. In Dumfries, Gretna Green and Springfield are side by side.

Griggs Creek: Flows E into Bideford River, Lot 12. William Grigg was a shipbuilder there in 18305. In Meacham 1880, with William Grigg as a settler there.

Griggs Pond: See Barclays Pond. Groshauz Settlement: See St. Charles. Grover Island: See Ram Island.

Guerite, Pointe de la: On Franquet 1751 for a point SE of Rocky Point, Lot 65, at present Fort Amherst. Means “watchtower point”.

Guernsey Cove: 2 mi SE of Murray Harbour in Lot 64. Settled 1806 by various settlers (LeLacheur, Todvin, Phillips, Machon, Brehaut) from Guernsey. Site selected because it was well wooded.

Gull Point: Extends into Malpeque Bay at Belmont Lot 16. On Cundall 1851. Named by Holland 1765 Benzincks Point, possibly for Capt. John Bentinck who had a large grant in Florida then. Meacham 1880 Bentinck or Gull Point; NTS 11 L/5 1967 Bentick Point.
