Hollow River: Flows N into Gulf of St. Law— rence, Lot 42. Barely 1 mi in length. In JHA 1836, on Lake 1863 and in Meacham 1880.
Holman Island: In Bedeque Bay. Named for J. L. Holman who bought it in the 18705 and built a summer hotel on it. Dela Roque 1752 Isle de Bea’ec; Holland 1765, Chart 1849, Wright and Cundall 1874, Meacham 1880, and Department of Interior 1914 Indian Island. Wyld 1845 Dunk 1. Former— ly called Flynn’s Island for an eccentric hermit who lived on it; formerly known as Pope’s Island for J. C. Pope who owned it before Holman.
Holm Cove: Former name for a cove on N side of Pinette River, Lot 58. On Bayfield
1846 and NTS 11 L/2 1967, but not in Meacham 1880 and not known locally.
Holme’s Mills: PO 1875-1888 at Breadal- bane, Lot67.
H ooper’s C orner: See Bedeque. Hope Creek: See Cains Brook.
Hopedale: Former school district 2 mi SW of Hunter River in Lot 22. In JHA 1870 and Meacham 1880. The road from Hunter River to Hartsville is called Hopedale Road.
Hopefield: 31/2 mi W of Murray River in Lots 62 and 64. School, district c1883. PO 1885-1969.
Hope River: 7 mi NW of Hunter River in Lot 22; district on both sides of Hope River and including St. Ann. In Meacham 1880. PO 1855-1914.
Hope River: Flows NW into New London Bay, Lot 22. Named by Samuel Holland 1765, probably for Colonel Hope, a friend of Frederick Haldimand, and later Lieu-
tenant Governor of Quebec.

Homes Creek: Flows N into Rustico Bay, Lot 33. Bayfield 1846 Macintosh Creek; Meacham 1880 Mat/reson’s Creek, with Jno. Home at mouth; also James, Alex, Jno. Mary and Geo. Matheson shown as property owners. NTS 11 L/6 1967 Matheson Creek. William Mathieson had asawmill there in 1839.
Homes Creek: Flows S into Hillsborough River, Lot 34. Cummins 1925 shows Misses A. and I. Home as property owners there. Franquet 1751 probably Riviére des Blancs; Bayfield 1843—1844 and Meacham 1880 Mars/ifield Creek. Possibly the same feature as Goff’s Creek of JHA 1843.
Horse Head: PO 1884-1885 at Waterford, Lot 1.
Horse Head: Extends into Northumberland Strait, Lot 1. The point there had the shape
of a horse’s head when named. In Meacham 1880.
Horseshoe Shoals: In Malpeque Bay. Named for the shape of the shoals. On Bayfield 1850.
Howards Cove: Adjacent to Northumberland Strait, Lot 7. Robert Howard came from Ireland c1819. Meacham 1880 shows Thos., Wm. and Mathew Howard there.
Howards Creek: Flows E into North River, Lot 32. William Howard came from Ireland before 1828. Bayfield 1846 Howard Creek; Meacham 1880 Howard Cr., with Jno. and J as. Howard there.
Howe Bay: 8 mi SW of Souris in Lot 56. School district c1880. PO Sailor’s Hope 1884-1913.
