Johnstons River: Flows NW into Hills— borough River, Lot 35. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for Lieutenant William Johnston of HMS MERMAID Bayfield 1846 Johnson River. Blanchard 1938 suggests it was riviére du Moulin d Scie during the French period, but in 1964 he places riviére des Blancs here. The latter is on Plan l 730.
Jones Hill: NW of Pownal, Lot 49. Meacham 1880 shows Wm., Geo., and Jas. Jones there, and Cummins 1925 names Locke and J. Layton Jones.
Keefes Lake: See O’Keefes Lake.
Keefes Point: Extends into Dock River, Lot 5. Meacham 1880 names Jno Keeffe and Cummins 1925 identifies Mrs. J. Keefe.
Ke/iouglz Creek: On Bayfield 1845 and in Meacham 1880 for a creek flowing E into North River at North River community.
Keir Clarks Pond: On South Branch Sturgeon
River, Lot 61. Named for Keir Clark of Montague, its developer.
Keirs Shore: Adjacent to March Water, Prin- cetown Royalty. John Keir (1779-1858) a Presbyterian minister, settled in the royalty in 1810. Bayfield 1850 notes “Kier Shore Pier”. In Meacham 1880 with Dr. Wm. Keir there, and Cummins 1925 has Dr. J. W. Keir there. Meacham 1880 also identi- fies “Keir’s Wharf”.
Kellys Cross: 3 mi NE of Crapaud in Lot 29. Settled from Ireland 1841. In JHA 1852. PO 1873-1969. John Kelly was postmaster there in 1880, and Meacham shows Jas., Edwin, Thos., Edward and Dan’l. Kelly as
farmers in the area. School district Treaugh until 1904.

Josephine Shore: Adjacent to Conway Nar— rows. Lot 12. Named for Josephine Cahill, a black who lived there.
Judson Point: Extends into Alexandra Bay, Lot 49. William Christopher Judson settled in Alexandra in 1792. Meacham 1880 shows Geo. Judson at the point, and Cum— mins 1925 has BA. and F. Judson in pos- session of the point.

Juniper Poim: See Chaffeys Point.
Kellys Point: Extends into Hillsborough River at Southport. Bayfield 1846 and Meacham 1880 Kelly Point, with Albert Kelley near the point. Not named on Cummins 1925, but Willard Kelly shown near the point. Possibly this is the feature referred to by Pacifique 1934, 1 mi above Atosag, that he identifies as Geosag gisna Megeog Gonteo, “red stone”. Kellys Cove is adjacent to the point.
Kelvin Grove: 2 mi S of Kensington in Lots 19 and 25. In JHA 1856. Possibly named for Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow. PO 1900—1912. Formerly called Blues/rank, which is on a plan of c1830. Railway sta- tion 1875 Blues/rank, later changed to Kelvin.
Kensington: Town incorporated 1914, in Lot 19. Name chosen c1863 for school district, probably given for Kensington in London, England. Formerly called Glover’s, later Barrett? Cross. PO Barretts Cross 1851- 1886; PO Kensington from 1886. Miss Barrett had a tavern there in the 18005, and it is said the first post office was named for her. In Micmac Garegageneg, “eel fish- ing place” (Pacifique 1934, which he also places at Chichester Cove).
