MacPhees Shore: Adjacent to Savage Har— bour, Lot 38. Meacham 1880 shows Angus and Hugh McPhee there, and Cummins 1925 has Victor McPhec. MacPhees Point is adjacent to the shore.
MacPhersons Creek: Flows SW into North— umberland Strait, Lot 62. Cummins 1925 shows John McPherson with property at the creek.
MacVanes Pond: At Bothwell, Lot 47. Mea- cham 1880 shows a sawmill there with
Joseph, Elijah and David McVane as local residents.
MacWilliams Cove: At West Cape, Lot 7. Named for David MacWilliams from Scot- land cl830 who built flour, carding and saw mills. Plan 1831 shows the family resi- dent there. In Meacham 1880 adjacent landowners are David, Horatio, Jacob and Alfred McWilliams. Cummins 1925 does not name it, but shows John H., Willington, Nelson, Wm. N., John Mcl., Ed., and J. J. McWilliams as property owners. The name remains very common in the area. MacWilliams Brook, MacWilliams Pond and MacWilliams Shore are adjacent features.

Malletts Pond: On Granville Creek, Lot 21. Cummins 1925 shows Herbert Mallett with over 200 acres there. NTS 11 L/6 1967 has Murp/zys Pond, which is really another
name for Parsons Pond on Trout River at Millvale.

Malpeque: 7 mi NW of Kensington in Prince— town Royalty. Formerly called Princetown, but Malpcquc is noted as early as Curtis 1775. The townsite of Princetown was really 2 mi W, but it was never developed. PO Princc’lown 1827-1945; PO Malpeque from 1945.
Malpeque Bay: Derived from Micmac Mak- paak, “big bay”, Guérard 1631 Marpet; Jumeau 1685 R. S. Philippe; Bellin 1744 Magpec. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Richmond Bay, a name commonly used in the 18005 and still used for the western side of the bay. Holland also shows Bay of Malpeck as a secondary name, Curtis 1775 Malpeck bay; Bayfield 1851 and Meacham 1880 have only Richmond Bay.
Malpeque, Cape: See Winchester Cape.
Malpeque Road: Provincial highway from Charlottetown to Hazelgrove. Supplanted the name Princetown Road c1852, but par— tially opened road from Hazelgrove to Princetown Royalty is still called Old Princetown Road. Johnstone 1822 refers to M alpeque road.
Mandersons Cove: Adjacent to Grand River, Lot 16. Cummins 1925 shows Jas. Man- derson nearby. Meacham 1880 Montgom- ery Cove.
Mansfield: PO 1886-1904 at St. Charles, Lot56.
Maple Hills: PO 1945-1948, possibly at Maple Hill, 1 mi S of Mount Stewart.
Maple Leaf: PO 1903—1 914 on Church Road, Lot 40, 4 mi SW of St. Peters. Although on NTS 11 L/7 1967 it is not known locally.
Maple Plains: 5 mi NW of Crapaud in Lot 27. School district No Man’s Land c1870-
c1892, when it was changed to Maple Plains. PO 1896—1912.
Maplewood: 5 mi NE of Crapaud in Lot 29. School district Cl 895.
