Mill Valley: 3 mi S of Kensington in Lot 25. Meacham 1880 identifies a cloth factory. The road from Kensington to Freetown used to be called Mill Valley Road, but now is known as Kelvin Grove Road.
Millvicw: 13 mi E of Charlottetown in Lots 49 and 50. Douglas 1925 notes it was in use in 1845, although first reference to a school by that name is JHA 1877. Mea— cham 1880 Mill View, with flour and card- ing mills on Seal River. PO 1876-1914.
Milo: 4 mi S of O’Leary in Lot 9. PO 1908- 1914. Origin unknown. The name recalls the noted athlete of Ionia.
Milton: 6 mi NW of Charlottetown in Lot 32. Possibly named for a place on South Uist, Scotland, where the celebrated Flora Macdonald may have been born, and pos— sibly suggested by numerous mills in the community. On Plan 1830-1840. PO Milton Station 1878—1969, with the school district known as Lower Milton, both being shown in Meacham 1880. Meacham also shows Milton Creek for a presently un- named tributary of North River that rises in North Milton.
Milton: School district in late 18005 on N end of Souris Line Road, Lot 45.
Miminegash: 9 mi NW of Alberton in Lot 2. Douglas 1925 suggests from M’negas/i, “what is carried" or “portage place”; Paci— fique 1934 has Elmenigetjg, “forward land”. PO 1861-1921 and from 1967; also PO [:‘liliS/leet 1894—1967. School district West Port 1882-1904, when it was changed to Eblisfleet, which may have been derived from Ebbsfleet, Kent, England, although locally the fishing fleet and ebb tides are suggested as its origin. Before 1882 the school district was Big7 Miminegas/i. Mimi- negash Run and Miminegash River are adjacent features.

Mink River: Flows S into Murray Harbour, Lot 63. Douglas 1925 states doubtless for the animal, but it is possible that it is a corruption of a Micmac name, such as min-uk, “fruit place”. Possibly the Micmac name Teakoo—seboo, “mink river” is only

Miscouche Cove: Adjacent to Northumber- land Strait, Lot 17, and E of Ives Point. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Sedgwick Cove, possibly for a clerk of the Board of Trade. Map 1775 and Meacham 1880 Sedgwick Cove. In Micmac Menisgotjg, “little marshy place” (Pacifique 1934).

Pos- sibly associated with Micael Michell, an Indian Chief noted in JHA 1832 seeking redress of problems, and for whom Midgell River may be named. Plan 1825 and Chart 1839 Mitchel River; Bayfield 1850 Mit- chell River.
