Richmond: 6 mi SW of Tyne Valley in Lot 14. Derived from Richmond Parish and Richmond Bay. Richmond Village is noted in JHA 1855, but the location may not have been the same. Established as a sta- tion in 1872. School district before 1880 Mount Hemlock. PO Fitzgerald Station 1875-1906; PO Richmond from 1906.
Richmond Bay: Given by Samuel Holland 1765 as an alternative name to Malpeque Bay, and widely used in the 18005 for the whole bay, and now restricted to the western side of Malpeque Bay, with Gillis Point and Winchester Cape as its outer limits. Lake 1863 shows the name twice, once as given by Holland and once as now approved. Named for Charles Lennox
(c1734-1806) 3rd Duke of Richmond and Lennox.
Richmond Cove: On NTS l 1 L/5 1967 for W end of Sevenmile Bay, Lot 26, but un- known locally, Bayfield 1849 Richmond Bay.
Richmond Parish: Named by Samuel Holland 1765 for Lots 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. Named for Charles Lennox (c1734-1806) 3rd Duke of Richmond and Lennox. Rare- ly used and no longer referred to.
Rifleman Shoal: In Northumberland Strait, 2 mi SW of Stuart Point, Lot 62. The sloop RIFLE MAN grounded there 1826.
Ringwood: School district 1880 at Rocky Point, Lot 65.
Riverdale: 10 mi W of Charlottetown in Lots 30 and 65. West River and Howells Brook form deep valleys there. School district c1880. Formerly called Howells Brook. PO Riverdale 1885-1913.
Riverside: See Southwest Lot 16.
Riverton: 8 mi S of Morell on East Branch Morell River, Lot 52. Originally known as Morell Forks. PO Hazel Green 1881—1891, but confusion with Hazelgrove in Lot 22 led to a change to Ruskin 1891-1913. When another P0 was needed in 1900 Riverton was chosen, and it remained in use until 1913, and is now the name in local use.
Riverview: Douglas 1925 has for a school district in Lot 55.

Robbs Creek: Flows W into Enmore River, Lot 10. On Wright 1852. Meacham 1880 Robbs Cr., with Horatio Robinson a settler on its S side.
Robertson: CN station 1 1/2 mi E of Montague in Lot 52. Meacham 1880 shows Donald Robertson with land there.
Robertson Creek: On Bayfield 1850 for small creek flowing W into Boughton River, 1 mi S of Bridgetown, Lot 55.
Robertsons Creek: Flows SE into Montague River, Lot 53. Meacham 1880 shows Jno., Amos and Josh Robertson as settlers there.
Robinsons Cove: Adjacent to Montague River at Lower Montague, Lot 59. Cum- mins 1925 shows M. and John R. Robert— son with property nearby; it is not unusual in the Maritimes to confuse these two sur- names, but there may have been 21 Robinson there too.

Rock Barra: 8 mi NE of Souris in Lot 46. Named for a rock offshore, now washed away, and for Barra in the Outer Hebrides. Tradition has that a first settler, Mclsaac, exclaimed to others that “you might as well
