Rose Valley: 6 mi N of Crapaud in Lot 67. Named by John Mackay Cl 864 for a school. In Meacham 1880 on top of a hill at the head of various tributaries of Dunk and Westmorcland Rivers. PO 1871—1914. PO Andersons Road 1864-1880, named for Alexander Anderson, surveyor of the road.
Roseville: 9 mi W of Alberton in Lots 3 and 4. Named by Lawrence Doyle c1875 for a school because of the abundance of wild roses. PO 1888-1913. Formerly called Little Miminegash.
Rosny: PO 1911—1912 at St. Philip, Lots 14 and 15. Possibly named for Due de Sully,
Maximilien de Bethune, Baron de Rosny (1560-1641).
Ross Corner: 5 mi SE of Summerside in Lot 25. Named for Murdock Ross who settled there c1856, and died 1896. PO 1894- 1913.
Ross Creek: Flows SW into Vernon River, Lots 49 and 50. Named for Lauchlin Ross (Cl770—1848) from Skye, Scotland, 1821. Possibly the same feature as Curries Creek noted in Macquecn 1957. JHA 1827 French Mill Creek.
Ross Pond: On Sturgeon River, Lot 61. Named for Harry Ross of Sturgeon. For-
merly called Mac-Kinnons Pond; Cummins 1925 shows Nat. McKinnon there.
Rourkes Creek: Flows SE into Montague River, 2 mi E of Montague. Meacham 1880 notes Jas. Rourke there, and Cum- mins 1925 has Geo. W. Rourke there. NTS 11 L/Z 1967 shows Thompsons Pond in error here, this being a former name of Stewarts Pond in Lot 59.
Roxbury: 6 mi E of O‘Leary in Lot 6. Named by Jerome Arsenault, who had Visited Rox-
bury, Massachusetts. Selected for the school district c1877. PO 1896-1914.
Royalty Junction: 4 mi N of Charlottetown in Lot 33 where the CN has one branch lead— ing to Charlottetown Royalty and another to Souris.
Royalty Point: Extends into Malpeque Har- bour, Princetown Royalty. On Bayfield 1850.

Ruskin: PO 1891—1913 in the N part of Riverton, Lots 39, 40 and 52. Named for John Ruskin (1819—1900) the art critic.
Rustico: An area name for the N half of Lot 24. PO 1852-1967 at South Rustico.
Rustico Bay: Adjacent to Gulf of St. Law- rence, Lots 24 and 33. Named for Rene Rassicot from Normandy 1724. Jumeau 1685 possibly R. bobokimik; Map 1750 R Toubomouinée; De la Roque 1752 Grand Racico; Holland 1765 Harris Bay, with Grand Rastico a secondary name; JHA 1774 Harris’s Bay or Grand Rustico. In Micmac Tabooerooelun, “having two outlets”. Blanchard 1938 suggests “three mouths”, but gives no authority. Caven 1899 gives Qm'quihougat as a Micmac name, but this is New London Bay.
