Sharp, Cape: Extends into Northumberland Strait, Lot 63. Neither Meacham 1880 nor Cummins 1925 show “Sharp” as a local personal name. Named by Samuel Holland 1765 Terass Point, but the reason for the name is unknown. Holland 1781 Terrass Point. Department of Interior 1910 and Cummins 1925 Texas Point.
Sharps Point: Extends into Lennox Channel, Lot 12. Meacham 1880 Point Lot 12 with Geo. Sharp nearby. Cummins 1925 shows G. S. Sharp in possession of all the point.
Shaws Beach: Adjacent to Brackley Bay, Lot 33. Named for Neil Shaw, who is noted as a landowner in Meacham 1880, and who was the founder of a hotel in the 18805 which is still operating. Duncan Shaw is noted as a settler in Lot 34 in the Census of 1798; he settled at Brackley Point with four sons in 1809.
Sheas Brook: Flows S into Paughs Creek, Lot 12. Meacham 1880 shows John Shea with 50 acres there.
Sheas Pond: 3 mi NE of Tignish at Bains Creek. Meacham 1880 shows Joseph Shea there. Shea Shore is 1 mi N, and Meacham 1880 also shows Joseph Shea with property there.
Sheep River: Flows NW into Egmont Bay, Lot 13. On Wright and Cundall 1874.

Sherbrooke: 2 mi NE of Summersidc in Lots 17 and 19. School district 1905. PO Grangemount 1909-1912. Formerly called Platte.
Sherrens Pond: On East Branch Westmore— land River, Lot 29. Meacham 1880 shows Jas. and Jno. Sherren in the area, and Cum- mins 1925 has Wm. D., Harold and David Sherren near the pond. In 1967 the name
was placed in error at Ives Pond, 4 mi W, on NTS 11 L/5.
Sherwood: Village incorporated 1960 in Charlottetown Royalty. Derived from Sher- wood Farm in Lot 33 where Charlottetown Cemetery was established before 1880 (Meacham), and which became Sherwood Cemetery in 1891. About the same time Central Royalty school, established 1866, was moved and enlarged. PO Sherwood Station 1910-1912.

Shining Waters, Lake of: In PEI National Park at Cavendish, Lot 23. Derived from Lucy Maud Montgomery’s “Anne of Green Gables”. Formerly called Makems Pond.

Shipwreck Point: Extends into Gulf of St. Lawrence at Naufrage. Translated by Hol- land 1765 from Pointe (114 Naztfrage. Mea- cham 1880 Shipwreck Point, which is also current usage.
Shipyard Creek: Flows E into Grand River, Lot 14. Bayfield 1850 and Douglas 1925 Macdonald Creek; Meacham 1880 Cross River, with “Ship Yard” noted at the mouth.
Shipyard Point: Extends into Bideford River, Lot 13. William Ellis and Richard Moys started building ships there in 1818.
Shipyard Point: Extends into March Water, Lot 18. Ships were built there before 1850. Shipyard River flows into March Water at the point.
