Surveyors Inlet and Surveyors Creek: See North Lake.
Sutherland Creek: Flows NE into Southwest River, Lot 20. Meacham 1880 Warrens Cr., with Jas. Warren and Jno. Sutherland as adjacent owners.
Tarantum: 6 mi SW of Mount Stewart in Lot 36. PO 1894-1910 and 1912—1915. The area was settled by Macdonalds 1772. A branch of the family settled in France 1746. Alexandre Macdonald, born at Sedan 1765, was created Due de Tarente 1806, for Taranto in Italy, which in Latin is Tarentum. Meacham 1880 Pond Settle- ment for Glenfinnan Pond (now Glenfin— nan Lake). A road in Lots 46 and 47 is known as Tarantum Road.
Taylor Point: Extends into Malpeque Bay, Lot 18. Census 1798 notes Donald Taylor in that lot. Meacham 1880 shows Wm. Taylor there.
Taylors Pond: In Princetown Royalty. In Meacham 1880 with Neil Taylor owning 88 acres. Cummins 1925 has Elmer E. Taylor there.
Taylors Pond: See Henrys Pond.
Tea Hill: In Lots 48 and 49, 4 mi SE of Char- lottetown. Probably named for the inter— section of Georgetown Road by the road to Bellevue Point. Also explained as a site where tea was spilled or where Labrador tea was gathered.
Tenmile House: 10 mi NE of Charlottetown in Lot 35. Site of tavern in early 18005. PO Ten Mile House 1884-1913.

Swanton Point: Extends into Northumberland Strait, Lot 45. Named by Samuel Holland 1765, possibly for Commodore Swanton of the VANGUARD at Quebec, 1760. On Bay—

Thomas Island: In Murray Harbour, Lot 64. Origin unknown.
Thompson Creek: Flows E into Clarks Bay, Lot 59. Named for William Thompson, farmer and miller there. In Meacham 1880.
Thompsons Point: Extends into Southwest River, Lot 20. Meacham 1880 shows Hiram Thompson there.
Thompsons Pond: In Princetown Royalty. Meacham 1880 has Alex. Thompson with 31 acres at the pond. Meacham 1880 also shows Thompsons Shore, and this is on
NTS 11 L/12 1967, but it is unknown locally.

T/zorndyke: PO 1896-1912 at Brackley, Lot 33. Believed to be named for “thorn dykes” or hawthorne bushes at the front of farms there. Johnstone 1822 refers to thorns planted on dykes.
Thornton Bay: See Clarks Bay.
Thornton Point: Extends into Cardigan Bay,
Lot 59. On Bayfield 1850. Meacham 1880 Sandy PL, with Richd. Thornton living there.
Three Rivers: In 1800s used as an area name for the region at the mouths of the Cardi- gan, Brudenell and Montague Rivers. Derived from the French Trois Riviéres. See also Georgetown.
